Just a soft yellow blur bolting
Under the porch when you saw us.
We couldn't touch or hold or pet.
But we tried to help.

We gave you food.
Built a little bed.
You were a sorry looking
Large eyed thing.
And we tried to help.

Tried to keep you warm
Tried to give you love.
Finally got a trap..
Fooled you with food.
We tried to help.

Took you to the Vet
Said there was no hope
You were so sick
And we tried to help.

Hell,
You didn't even have a name
And I miss you.

I had much the same thing happen a few years ago... and I miss him still.
And now I'm hanging onto a last few hours with a little cat born into my hands from a mother I'd tamed from feral... you can't know how deeply this touches... or how it helps knowing they capture other hearts just as completely.

I have a kitty by the name of Bright Eyes and she loves to sit in the window as all kittys do. Last winter I heard, outside in the cold deep snow,a mournful cry, such distress I did hear.
I looked out the window and this big kitty cat was looking at mine with a hungrey cry.
I put a dish of food out for him/her. Then just stood in the doorway. He braved the steps for the food. He was big with long matted hair and one eye missing and a chewed ear. I fed him all winter then he disappeared. I have often thought of him and wondered how he is.
Good one about the kitty.

This is just excellent, my friend. Knowing you and Linda as I do, I can just see you doing this. You really showed yourself in this one.

I have two stray cats around my house. I began to feed them, but still they are scared to come close. The female is pregnant and she lets me pet her while she's eating, but not for long.

I've gotten both the cats in pretty good shape as far as their weight gain. It's a good feeling.

Sorry to hear about your cat...that's so sad

this shows what a sweet and tender
heart you have, i'm so sorry for your
loss, and though no the cat may not have
had a name, he/she at least had love and
a home, if only for a little while, thanks
to you. i'm so sorry for your loss.
take care
