Unmoved By It All

There she stood...old, and bent
the heaviest person I had ever seen
Weight was the most of her
Her feet were worn and calloused
She was torn, too, but I could see something
I saw something sage, and weathered
Grey that covered her eyes,
I felt a little pained, or an ache for her
But she seemed unmoved by it all

It was "my" eyes that paid attention at all
I watched as she walked by, and wondered if I
ever had a few minutes with her
I wondered what would be said.

Well she walked slowly under the weight,
her legs seeming weakened by it all.
She sat down beside me, said how are you hunny?
Well I knew right then she would be a delight
I was certainly sure she would be funny.

Well that she was as she spinned her yarns
Told her tales of days gone by.
Never did she tell me of things
that would make you cry.

Her life simple as it could be,
but told with such charm
and laughter that would fill your soul.

This heaviest woman
I ever did see made the bad in life a mockery.
Unmoved, unweakened, by it all.
Her life filled with nothing of travels, or grand awards
of high acclaim.
Her children, her years growing up, her love for life
Her humour, her jolly friendly open smile
Those were her claim to fame.

There is a woman that was more like a mother than my own. She is faced with cancer, and many other illnesses that age seems to have brought with it. Please pray for this most charmed woman. Her life is (truly) a beacon to other people. Please remember her in your prayers. A lovely human being loved by all who know her. Love ya sweet dear lady Annie, my other mother.

Love,
Terri~

Now this is truly an honor to read and consider the prayers coming. I felt every single word as if whispered from your heart.  What I loved best of this was the fact you both saw the conviction one has for the most important things in life, family and love.  Very well done indeed.

Terri, this is a very beautiful poem. I love the way this lady sees life. It seems that she's got the right idea about what's good and a blessing in life. I can see why you are drawn to her and feel such a kinship with her.

I love the way that you can tell a story in your poems. It's very good writing, sweet lady.

My thoughts and prayers are certainly with your this fine lady.
Hugs to you and her, sweet lady

Hello to all of you. How sweet your words are. Here, outside of ol' H-town it's pretty chilly outside, and almost midnight so I will give each of you an individual response tomorrow. I have to get up VERYYYYYYYY early in the morning, and will be gone most of the day so I am trying to make this quick. She is truly a jewel in God's crown. Of that I have no doubt. Every one who meets her has never had an unkind word to say about her, and she is the one that every one gravitates to for help, solace, advice, and a cradle of loving arms to hold you. Without a doubt (besides my 2 sons) she is the one person I can look to, and say I have been blessed to know her. Please keep her close in your prayers. She is in her 79th year on this earthly plane, and has been one that has ispired me to write about more than once.
Love to you all,and God Bless! dear dear sweet Annie!!! and love ya all.

its always like this, isn't it?
ironic, maybe...
but I think we just need a good slap in the face sometimes, nicely, y'know?
I'll keep her in prayers... Keep us updated.

Annie is moved...no one can be unmoved,
and establish new friendships...

But I understand your title,
and very well understand where in your heart,
she resides.

A lovely poem, Shararose, a wonderful sharing.

Thank you.

Well I am moved by this beautiful tribute.
This reminds me of my 'second mother' from teenagehood, Colleen.

Terri, after having read your poem, I cannot say that I was "Unmoved By It All". No, for in fact I was great moved by it all. Your compassion and Annie's nobility touched me deeply.

..............I have just sent prayers to God's Ear on behalf of this wonderful woman in her time of need. I asked that she be surrounded by His healing angels.

Love, Light, & Eternal Life,
Linda

(big angel hugs) God Bless You, sweet friend, this made me cry not only because you have such a golden and giving heart but also because I could envision Annie and how spirited and beautiful she is! (smiles) Know that she is being held in our hearts with deep love and that we lend our prayers to His ear and send angel hugs her way to heal her and wish her a healthy recovery! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, I was completely MOVED by this and this made my heart smile, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your whole family, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Terri, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
