where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2003-12-03 12:19 PM

Drawn into a navy blue
windstripe,
in the middle of a forest sky..
Touched by a tear she wept
clearly,
enduring the color of
a bleeding star
with bits of frost
upon the edges on
the opposite side of
where the mist lies.

I do believe
you've
wished upon my
moon.
But I'd be no better
if I'd wished upon yours,
chances are
   I have.

Never would I admit my guilt,
my claiming your scene
minute..
For this was not the case,
for weeping shows a flaw in truth.
But I will shout, in dismay,
that my flowers in the window decay
and I've not the means to replace, no,
I've not granted myself that privilege.
For I was the one who tore them
from their resting place,
I was not the victim of hopelessness' rage..
So I forgive not the truth, but that
which is mortal..

Like you,
and I..

Hours could pass and I'd still not notice
your absence from this house, or this bed..

I do not grasp the chilling air in hopes to feel
warm heartbeats under the sand..

..and this ocean does not drown me as it once did,
the salt in my lungs dries the lips that
kissed in such a vulnerable manner..

but I digress...

That it's more likely to be
that
my moon has not yet granted your wishes, as it's
never granted mine..
in any case,
we're caressing the thorns on the roses
we
wept over
as they decayed.

one of my favorite parts of this beautiful poem...because I've never heard the moon described in such a way..

"...a bleeding star
with bits of frost
upon the edges..."

enjoyed!

Gawd! You are really good at the "mood" poetry...the ones that put me in a mood that I can't even explain, but I like it
