Salt Cedar

I’ve known the love
that blooms in Spring,
when a new-warm sun rides high.

I’ve known the love
that lasts a day,
but withers in a  night.

I want a salt-cedar love.
It grows slow, but shoves down roots
that will not die.

Its bark is rough and knotted,
with leaves
both sharp and dry.

It bends to the wind,
but never breaks,
though it may twist awry.

Desert gods, if such there are,
and you can
hear my old worn sigh,

give me
a salt-cedar love,
a love that wants to try.

Pilgrimage,
I very much enjoyed your write, especially:
     I want a salt-cedar love.
It grows slow, but shoves down roots
     that will not die.

Its bark is rough and knotted,
     with leaves
     both sharp and dry.

     It bends to the wind,
     but never breaks,
     though it may twist awry.

A creative and enjoyable write!

Will salt cedars grow in Ontario? lol

~ May you find salt cedar love before next spring!

Warm hugs & smiles,

Sadelite, thanks!

EA- Salt Cedar generally grows where there's nothing to make anything want to grow, so no, it won't grow in Ontario where there's good weather and water and stuff.

I like this, both the idea and the way you carry it out....maybe because we think in a little bit of the same way about the subject.... reminds me of this one of mine: /pip/Forum79/HTML/001905.html

Titch-how very kind of you.  I don't post often, I don't often have time to come here, but I'll look out for your poetry too.

Ed, I love your poem. I'm probably not meant for the nutwoods, just the nuts.

Noah, it's good to hear from you, you always have something kind to say.

Martie, thank you.

Martin, I'm so glad you liked it.

passing shadows, I'm happy you like the last line, it came to me without any work on it, unlike the rest of the poem.
