Cast site upon the stillness of thy steep quest
And view the adornment which lays at thy paths rest
Frolicking and withered away is the surmise of winters stay
For spring hath cast itself before the sun’s rays

Vacant to my surmise there is no light
Yet I hear birds of prey overhead cutting the wind like knives

Pounding the air, be that drums I hear?
Or is it man made steps of soldiers marching from the rear?

Give me ride and I shall charge asunder
Commence my gallop before the many flock folds
And let each step unfold before me like thunder
Let not my perseverance grow cold

Take leave of no land
Less your heart be subtle

It is a wonder to behold that we are not brothers
It is entrancing to know that we share not each others journey
That we cast fate upon one another in attempt to undermine
That we do not offer to each others thirst a glass of wine.

I would like to know the inspiration behind this one -- it leaves me wondering.  Really enjoyed it!

The emotion here is very crisp...felt like a determined wind beneath strong sails.
I believe I heard the hoofbeats of your steed as you rode into battle with the demon.
Really well done. TD

Quite intriguing.  The last stanza, I am curious to know...is it a quote of yours, or of another?

Well written, as I have come to expect.  You were gone for awhile.  It is good to see you back with us.

Jeff, this last part caught me in the truth of it has for all times.  It seemed a statement apart from the story of the poem, yet gave me the intention.  Wonderful writing!
