Faith is almost lost, mid-winter fills my space,
And time is when the brittle-stubble breaks
Through ice scabbed, garden ground:
Near barren, at rest: only a crookneck
Lays glassy, orphaned and rotten;
Where once a green mother-vine,
Made its warm-summer-nest.
*
Allowing spring flower-cloud billows to image
And rise from sugar plum magazine pictures:
Came a book in post today, of dreams
Bright green gage, and  sugar snap peas,
Tomitillos;(even if you don't like husk tomatoes)
Pictures of summers charity are most delicious,
When frost paints winter scenes upon our windows.
*
The promise of summer-bounty lifts
The drooping spirit, morphs it
Several months into the future:
I fill the blanks in, sign a scrap of paper,
Raise the flag that begs for mans attention,
And cope the drifts up-lane, knee deep
Refilled with hope, renewed in faith
That spring is only time and space away.

I could just see myself looking throughg a Burpee's and dreaming of what a pretty garden I would have in the Spring/Summer.  Since I live in the South now and warmer weather, I was pleased of this reminder of life up north -- thanks for the beautifully written words.  Believe it or not, sometimes I miss it.

If you live in the deep south you are probably able to plant some things year 'round.....I do prefer the north, I couldn't do without the changing seasons..I understand why you sometimes miss it...\Thank you for commenting...
