Pelican Dining

A pelican plunges headlong,
the straining mouth wide for
the shock, and this time
a fish has blundered in.

Looking almost surprised
he points his beak high,
swallows like a poet
reading a bad rhyme.

The fish tries to explain.

You're wonderfully wicked.

I like this - I've never read a poem about a pelican before; I consider it a treat to get to read about something that hasn't been done before, or that isn't done often at least. Thanks for being unique.

Interesting poem. Does this mean, we will have a talking Pelican since he swallowed a talking fish.
Good one.

You have a delightfully unique sense of humor! I am always amused by your wry and clever twists at the end! lol

you are too funny, too funny...and it's a waste of time trying to 'splain
yourself anyway

ROFL... I'm chagrined to consider how many of those moments I've given to the poets reading my work! LOL

This is classic, my friend... absolutely wonderful! *G*
