Innocence Lost

Night races away as if to catch the moon,
knowing the morning sun will come way too soon.
Lying on the downward slope of the lawn,
rapidly approaching is the morning dawn.

Oh how the grass has grown,
and yet there is but a single flower standing all alone.
Who could have created this earth?
Why is it treated like it has no real worth?

As if on the receiving end of a mighty sword,
eventually it will no longer yield its reward.
Imagine a sea without its breeze,
see the sun, and feel no warmth.

Change is but a thought away,
yet somehow the human mind will always stray.
Only one can tell of what the future holds,
and for the rest, God only knows.

yep, only god knows
don't despair too much though, some things are changing for the better...sometimes you have to look REALLY hard to find em

Beautifully rhymed, and welcome to Passions, I will look forward to more of your lovely poetry.

Change is but a thought away, but it takes many years for change to be seen...just one little thing at a time.  Enjoyed this thoughtful poem!

This is terrific.  Unfortunately for Toerag and Balladeer, it came too late.  Fortunately for me, it came sufficiently early.

Hello Tom

Once again you have exposed your heart to us, thank you.

things in the world
cannot be seen
or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart"
