In my first stanza I obeyed not the laws of rhyme, preferring instead to be guided by the memories from my heart. Does young love listen to rules?

BLUE CHICORY, FOR YOUR HAIR

Teasing breeze coming straight from the sea, I smell on it your hair,
now your laughter and impish smile, I remember the April Church Fair.
I belonged to your sky, to the blue of your eyes,
with our circling gulls, and their loud knowing cries...
and that warm summer sun melting souls into just one,
with two bodies that were longing to share.

I felt then your first swim, in the pool of my mind...
sweet ripples of love, we no longer blind.
You wanted my strength, but asked I be gentle
as you lay in my arms, under night's so soft mantle.

Painted ferries arriving, they bring people bright,
you came again this year, I dreamed so last night.
Will we dance together, afore summer's end,
bare-footed on wet grass in quiet Glennich Glenn?

Time closes in, seperations to school,
will I hold you again, or have I just been a fool?
Someone disembarking, a certain charm,
now the smile on your face as you run to my arms.

Kind moon to watch over us, we sit in our glenn,
I weave blue chicory for your hair.
I touch your soft lips, and I kiss them then,
it's that time, when young lovers should dare...

I read in another area, one of your comments, I believe, that you have been writing since you were 13.  Apparently, you've also had some wonderful guidance, and appreciation for your work.

Seems to me that we'll be hearing of you in the future, and will be able to say "we remember him when..."

Thank you Lee J and Sunshine. Hmmm, I actually said something else about when I was thirteen Sunshine.

No I haven't been writing like you may think and the only critiques I have had are from the women I loved and to whom I offered some poems. **Smile** my very first public one was when I was ten and it turned out not a very nice experience. You can read about it here in, The Little Schoolhouse. Other than that I have written a very few in my forums and now, a couple here.

I do appreciate your comments.

Tony.

Tony...The vision just the title brought to me led me to know this would be a delightful poem..and it was.

It was the chicory that brought me here, too.
I'm glad it led me to these wonderful images.

What a delight it is to read your words...
So finely woven as to capture the reader from the beginning..
holding their interest all the way through..
leaving a feeling of never wanting it to end!
I stand and applaud you poet sir.
