The grass is a hospice, holding dearly summer's relentless ones enduring their final hours. Nobly they drift into the night. Upon straggly white strands, i whisper yet one more wish, into a whimsical sky, one more time, wondering as i long for it, even why. They say a dandelion is a weed, but they're wrong. It's a pretty yellow flower that's almost impossible to kill. It isn't fond of growing in rows, or of staying within the borders people define for it, and the more limited among them tell that weed story to make themselves feel better about its having eluded their grasp.
