beyond the doors of perception

I wrote this the day after finding out that my 24 year old son had testicular cancer.  There is nothing quite like cancer to get a familie's attention.  My son is fine, though he is a "swinging single." ;-}

Born beautiful, bright, and curly, solid as a rock
Coming from strong, and handsome family stock
As a child; young and beautiful - to live forever
Your smile makes dad's heart light as a feather
As growth and manhood beckon, you step lightly towards your age
Seeking, knowing, and enlightening, becoming as a sage
LQQking in, lQQking out, never averting your eyes
As a mere young buck, life demands you be wise
You know, from your heart, to live is to love
On this path of life, you believe to seek above
To know, to see, to be, to become
That safe place where child finds home
Joseph favored of his father
Joey adored by his mother
Beautiful, strong, steady and bright
With love and laughter you bring light
To life, to family, to friends, to wife
With the birthing of Faith, you find your life
Your Father is proud, you are the greatest of sons
Knowing the sun shall not set on this greatest of ones

Peace, Joe

Joe...Glad everything turned out okay.
Who said it takes 2 to tango? it seems one will do just fine.Serriously that is a tough crisis to face and sounds like Joseph did just fine coming from strong and handsome family stock as you say. So do we call you grandpa Joe?
Enjoyed, thanks for sharing...Paul

my kids have literally saved my hide many times.  their love is boundless, and infectious... My son is perfect, and the neat thing for me is that he loves to hang with "pops," as he calls me.  thank you again

Had to look at your work after your comments on my daughters poem Sunshinemc. I have seen and nursed enough cancer for 2 lifetimes. God bless you and your son.

whew, what a relief that you were spared the heartbreak of separation...no parent should be forced to lose their child.  Thank goodness, and a wonderfully composed write.
Thank you!

again, thank you all for your kind comments.  I single parented my three while going to college, working, all that, and they were going through hormonal rage.  They made me what I am.  They are my very soul...
but mostly folks, thank you for your concern
