It seems that some are confused about the connection we share.
They keep trying to determine the depth of how much we care.
Their questioning and labeling is starting to trouble me within
So I decided to answer them not with attitude, but with my pen.
For the record, he and I are more than "just friends".

See, what he and I share can't be called "just"
To label it as such, would be the ultimate of disrespect.
By calling it "just" you diminish the beauty of what we are
Because you see, "just friends" we've surpassed by far.

Now I know your shouting, "Candii is such a pretender!"
Because you knew there was no way we could be "just friends", since we are of opposite gender.
Deep inside you're screaming, "I knew!" "I knew!"
But like momma said, "Everything you think ain't always true."

He and I have a connection that transcends space and time
A union of spirits birthed from rhythm and rhyme

Our bond goes beyond the fact that he is fine
Yeah, I've notice.
I'm not blind.
But he is more than a sexy face
He has a spirit that I find indomitable
His conversation is comical.
His scribe is phenomenal.

Now I hope you see that our relationship is far more than "just".
It is a friendship with roots sunk deep in love and trust.
And just because some can't comprehend it
And others get offended
I'll be damned if we are going to end it!

So I hope this helps, because I will no longer explain it
Call it what you like
I refuse to rename it
Lord knows I pity the fool that tries to defame it!

So I hope this lays to rest all the gossip and speculation
I've openly confessed our level of admiration
No longer to hear the allegations
Or the
Who!
What!
Where!
When!

You should be so blessed to have what we have...
because in each other we have found a Friend.

(smiles) Oh Candii, I understand just what you mean, sweet friend, I too can't stand when people ask "Is he or she hot?" or things like that and fail to pay attention to the beauty inside, the spirit, the heart, the smile! (big hugggsssssss) Fear not, for when your friendship continues to grow and the love is golden, all that gossip and papparazzi feeling will diminish and they'll understand your strong feelings, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Candii, thank you for sharing!

I appreciate the fact that you had the smarts to write this poem as so many people of the opposite gender are friends and these friendships are often stronger than any romantic relationship between those particular two people could be. I hope this makes sense.
