How kind of you...
In your desire-
Return to me my youth.
Delightful contemplation,
But I fear the simple truth-
Is that I've far outgrown the time
Of innocence and bliss-
And am more comfortable by far-
To face life as it is.

And yet the tenderness you show...
Can touch my deepest nerve.
And even notice, by your ilk-
Is more than I deserve.
Consider this, beloved one-
I've crossed the boundless space-
To hold you once within my arms,
And kiss your lovely face.

Incubus, or succubi...
They're all the same to me...
Demonic presence...nuance dread-
From which I can't be free.
A pox on immortality-
Who wants to live forever.
When pain and suffering abound-
And peace shall triumph never.

Nice read.  I especially like the following:

"But I fear the simple truth-
Is that I've far outgrown the time
Of innocence and bliss-
And am more comfortable by far-
To face life as it is."

I feel you have captured life as we unfortunately conform to it.

WOW...I rarely remember to save these to my library, but in this one goes right now before I forget. Ah, now that's better...saved it. I love the words that seem to make a resolve. Too old for all this stuff is me, too, and glad it's all behind me.
Love,
Terri~
