in the shadows

0 posted 2003-10-31 11:07 AM

The dragons will dance tonight
acknowledging the gift of flight
by staying on the Earth,
until liberated in the coming
crystalline moment of Midnight.

More demons walk the world this year;
they know well
there is no heaven
there is no hell,
is it fear that keeps your lights on
or do you welcome them?

They stride
before the human tide of creative theology,
abstract frivolity,
the optimistic lifeline of the desperate and the hopeful,
the platitudes of semi-celibate mortal men
dressed in brocade gowns,
confronting them
from now until Walpurgis Night
when the Northern World again awakes
and the Earth's lifeblood
flows to bud.

It takes my breath away
some times
when I can slow my eyes
to see through each disguise,
to catch their movements in the shadows,
as they slip in and out of sight
tickling the seams of consciousness
that bind the dreams of righteous nonbelievers
through each sweaty fitful night.

Another neat pic! You have so many looks! From one of sophistication to this one! ~ which is adorable!

As for this timely poem, Dear Box of Ice, you are one who sees ~ and perhaps, at times, you see more than you care to!

If they dance tonight, most of us won't know it -- caught up as we will be in the notion that we do, and in imagining that we are aware, we will miss the reality entirely.

I'm ready for them, no matter how thin the veil. I just feel them passing through. Have to admit I had to look some of your words up. But knowledge is good.

There are many disguises, some we make ourselves, I think, for fear of seeing too much.  Enjoyed reading you, as always, my friend.  *hugs*
