Poets and fools dream,
regardless of cost to them.
Poets and fools sing
love songs, and get lost in them.
Poets and fools
mistake moondrops for jewels,
and think hearts make the rules.

Lift your glass in a toast to them:
Poets and Fools!

I love this woman!

Here is a lady with no illusions, who rejoices anyway.....a rare gift, to be sure.

Nan, I love this truth you penned so beautifully.  Led by heart, yes, I am guilty.  So, am I poet or a fool...or a little of both?

I am glad I stopped by this morning.

Yes. Let us raise our glasses high to the poets and the writers of dreams and fun filled fantasy.
Liked the poem.

Nan~
Tee-Hee ... in the mirror, I see POET
some others see me as FOOL~

Ahhhh, to be so multi-faceted~

I plead guilty to both ... and condemn myself to being poetically sentenced for life~

Love you ... love your thoughts~

Terrific---You executed this brilliantly... the brevity of the form adds a light quality to the already-light subject matter.  I like how careful you were about tone.  It is, however, true... there are poets, and there are fools.  There's imagination and there's fancy, too.  I don't think they're the same thing, but as you describe, poets and fools clearly have similar qualities.

Although I do act quite the fool, quite often.  I'm a rather absent-minded poet.  Things like doors which pull, not push, to open... quite often put me on display.

quote:
Poets and fools
mistake moondrops for jewels,

Perfect writing... I'll put this in my private library.  Thanks.

Martie, sometimes I'm both, and quite often I'm the last one mentioned.

Marge-I don't think we can be anything but what we are. Your reply made me smile.

Local Parasite: That is very kind of you. Thank you.

Magnus- Cheers to us!
