Oh gOD, i know
your lust for power well

there are those who'd
sacrifice their lambs
to feed your gluttony
or satiate your greed

but not i

there are those who
fear inciting the wrath
in your envy of all other
gods and idols

but not i

gOD judge me not
too harshly
created in your image
i was born of your vanity
your need to be venerated

so my lord
i forgive you not for you are sin
and nothing can convey
the feel of utter desolation
we feel in your sloth

(..total lack of execution my muse is awol)

"created in your image
i was born of your vanity"

Ahh...now there is a good reason to come to some other belief!

Well, done, Sir.  (muse or no muse)

Blaming it on your muse are you?
This was good and dark Raph~
I like it raw.

Could you explain to me about the Lord being sin?
We are his creatures, and of our own making aren't we?
I could go on and on about the hand I was dealt.
I liked this, and like you, I have wept,
and I know what makes me smile.

Raph:

gOD judge me not
too harshly
created in your image
i was born of your vanity

yes we all are and you know I know the God you speak of for I have known the vengeful one, was the one I was taught.  I commend you for such a plea and yes, I understand the message and turning of backs . . .
I know of not that God now, I too have discarded that image for replacement of one who suits my beliefs and not that of church and society.  You cant read about this one in a book . . .

Very cool Raph, I tossed the old gOD out and created a new one in my own image. He has just as many flaws but we get along better

I could talk for hours just on the two lines quoted by icebox.

Thought provoking as always Raphael.

Don't go casually wandering off into a lightning storm, ok?
We need ya here.
But you know, if you keep bringing this up, I may have to join in, having long ago gone silent on the topic.

Wow....what a profound and powerful piece. I could also talk for hours about this subject, but, you don't want to get a virgo started hehe.  Damn Raph, you just keep getting better and better and as always you challenge me and make me think.

This is a keeper
