In the Silence

Sometimes I wince the silent thrash
Those stinging whips, in mental lash
Knotted sin in brads of whim
It tears me open skin to limb.

Then dips me into the abyss
And pulls me up by cannabis
To drag me over dragon fire
With tar and feathers as attire

Sackcloth of a hellish hone
That cuts the flesh to bone
Then rubs me in salty brine
And seasons me with blood and wine.

It is a nightmare fantasy
One beyond pure agony
It is a scourge I cannot purge
A constant surge that beats a dirge

Harassment with a wicked shake
Outrage to the point of wake

The terror of nightdreams comes through so vividly in this piece, Sy...I wish you better dreams when you close your eyes...

I know about this.  It happens between 2 and 3 a.m., the mental lash.  I usually get back to sleep just before the alarm rings. grrrr
You have described it well.  You might need a nap today!

========================

Im just sitting here shaking me mothy head and smiling at you....
even when your pen bleeds with wrath and angst your clever wit and gift of verbiage and rhyme rise above all the hell fires.

There are so many COOOL lines in this...
so many classic Sy analogies and personifications...wrapped in your command of vocabulary and cadence...then all tied up with a poetic bow of brilliance in those closing couplets of WAAAAAY COOL !!!

Even when Randy is being reaaaaaaally randy...it leaves your pen daringly dandy. *L*

( oh by the way...did I tell you Randy is going to Chicago with us?)
right after he waves you and Isabel off on your cruise LOL

My, my dear Seymour, sounds to me like you need a nice cup of tea with honey and maybe....umm...yes, a nice butter tart.
Then, a peaceful, dream free nap! I wonder what it was? The moon? I was tossing and turning all last night as well. Hmmm...where are those butter tarts? hugs, Chris

What I get is a silence filled with frightening visions. An impressive piece!
Have a peaceful walk in the fresh air to neutralize these "invasions" of your nightly rest.
Hugs. Margherita

An excellent write, my friend... and especially poignant to me because just yesterday, I was enjoying silence and the thoughts it brought me... a long step from the silence that shrieks like this and visited me so many nights. *S*
