“ONE MORE SHOOFLY JUNCTION THING”

Once back then, Dorsel, that’s my step dad remember,
well he was down in one of those dark, damp, and dreary
coal mines mining coal one day, and when he was coming
out of there the coal car left the tracks and he broke
his neck after hitting the ceiling with his head, well if
you happened to read one of the other parts of Shoofly
Junction you would know that Dorsel has one heck of a
hard head, as when Mom smacked him on top of it with
a frying pan and knocked him cold when he was sneaking in
the back window that one night we were out having a few,
never did hurt that bald head, but you should have
seen that darn frying pan all dented up, anyway he
didn’t hurt it either when he hit the mine ceiling,
just his neck, and you should have seen him with that
halo on top looking like an angel, h’aaaaa, and his
arm in a brace trying to drink a cold beer, I know
it’s not funny, but he sure did look it…

Now that he was really laid up it seemed that we were
out getting into more and more trouble with mom, of
course it was all his fault, but it seemed I was getting
into more trouble than he was because I would take
him home early and then I was on my own to meet with
that good looker Patty Sue, who was the younger sister
of Barbara Ann whom I was dating at the time, geez,
I couldn’t keep things straight at all back then, must
have been all that moonshine…

Anyway, if I continue this I would be telling all my
little secrets about some of my doings back then until
all hours of the wee morning, I mean nothing really
ever happened, hehehe, but whew, just to think about
some of the happenings and people I met back
there in that special place in my heart by the name
of Shoofly Junction, just gives me the chills…

L~

The way you move me
I walk with your shadow
With your silhouette
Leave the light on
It always comes
Back to you

Yeah, right!!!

Bill, Ilove to hear of the happenings at Shoofly Junction.
These could be sitcoms on t.v.

Grinning at you...my ex-husband's second wife...I heard tell...beat him over the head with a frying pan more than a few times.  Still I don't think he felt it...not because his head was so hard, but because he was full of those "cold ones."

Thanks for this...I love the image it left in my mind.  LOL

Bill

You know how I like your stories of Shoofly...love the tone of voice you use, like we're sitting around the fire swapping things about life.  Great stuff!! (and I mean stuff in the best way)

This kind of reminds me of sitting on the porch swing, or in a chair in the front yard with a glass of tea hearing the roar of laughter listening to someones tales. Cute one!!!!! I loved this!!!

If you're a havin' friends comin' over to sit and spin a tale or two. May I come and listen. I love to sit and swing on the ole porch swing and listen to friends and family's laughter.
Enjoyed Bon-Bon
