matchbooks
napkins
ink-bled clues
photographs
I'd torn in half--
a surgery of memory--
discarding that
of focused wrath.

Images
of too much pain--
I didn't want to see again--
so I removed malignancy
left with halves of photographs
of these lovers I have known--
and no evidence of ME--
I disregarded myself...twice.

Most, I know, would keep themselves
but I knew the enemy...
I kept the cardboard cut-outs posed
and burned myself in effigy...

Karen,

I kept all my stuff (for the kids of course) and just hid them somewhere...and this writing of your's made me realize I did the same with all the good memories...it is so much easier to be pissed off...

Throw the other half of those pictures away and go get a new one of just you.

I truly need to thank Vicky--for the help with the photo AND the inspire--

Hugs and love dear friend.

And this guy in the photo?

HE isn't a bad memory--I--the "me" I was then--IS.

May both rest in peace.

smile?

Thanks for reading good people. love to all.

Karen...you already know that I love this.

As usual, you took a little bit of inspire
and succeeded in making it uniquely yours.

And, of course, I can't take credit for the inspire...
only for passing it on to you.  The true credit
goes to JM, and I thank her for planting the seed
that ultimately produced THIS.

Thank YOU, Karen...love you bunches, lady..

Just had to come back again, and tell you
just how powerful those lines are.
I keep reading them over and over again,
and each time, the image becomes clearer
and hits closer to home.:

And yes...may both rest in peace...smile.

Love you, Karen.

Tried to write something about splitting memories the other day . . .
just a little too painful, it was.
Maybe I should try to go back there . . .

(Hey, M, there definately is a resemblence.)

serenity

I think you have written for all who have felt half of whole and then just half....and then the anger of the tearing, and the sadness of wanting it whole again...I'm rambling..and could continue, but won't.  What was the quote from JM?

Oh...always you write that heart of yours so we can see it and feel the awe.  Enjoyed the poem!

Karen, when my daughter's Dad and I got a divorce, I got drunk and shot his picture when I got home. He said that he sure was glad that he was out of town.....and he took the little gun away from me that he had gave me for protection.
Go figure...   LOL

And Maureen, thanks for the laugh...that was cute. And, yeah, there is quite a resemblance.

Hugs everybody
Ethel

Thanks all for reading.

and yes, I agree. Even if I don't think he resembled Sonny Bono then? I'm sure he does now.

They have both been deceased for some time.

This was a fine man...

Love and hugs to all.

I will put a good spin on this
pain that I feel
smile
the void beside him?
and all the other jagged pictures?
well
you did it
because
no border on a photograph
can hold
you
you freed your image
as your soul is

so there

you write
