Inside the shadow's shadow

0 posted 2003-09-20 04:58 AM

The woman of green
Tunic and eyes
Stared longingly across
The sea...Although
She'd not have admitted it.
Claiming solitude was her way,
She gathered her spear
And retreated to her hut...
Alone.
Why is alone such a bitter-tasting word?
She wondered.
Solitude was prettier.
Though she was no sucker for "pretties"...
At least...
She'd not have admitted it.

The woman of green,
A star...
Seemingly so close to the others
From afar
Yet too far to touch
To converse
Too far for someone to
Break down her walls
Tear down her guards
And just

Love 'er.

And the woman of green
Stumbled to bed
Feigning exhaustion.

This lonely old island was
Getting exhausting
Mentally depressive...

Yet, she'd not have admitted it.

No. Never admit it.
Content and independent
In all her quiet solitude...
She was happy...

At least...That's what she...
Said.

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

~ So very true!
