+*+*+*+*+

As sun slips slowly
below distant horizon,
the meadowlark sings its song.

Scent of fresh-mown grass,
carried in evening air,
brings mem'ries of summers past.

A stillness falls as
darkness creeps across the land.
Day is coming to a close.

+*+*+*+*+

Hi-Q!

I only recently discovered this Japanese poetic form (5-7-7) and I really like it. I find it easier to write than a senryu because of the additional 2 onji (syllables) in the third line.

You're forever finding wonderful ways
to enchant us.

I shall have to try this style sometime
soon.

Think I can do it?

Sunshine ~

Thank you for the lovely comment, Dear Radiant Celestial Orb!

--and as for my thoughts as to whether you could write a katauta or not---But of course, Mistress Poetess!--but of course!
