Tightrope

I walk a symbols tightrope strung
Balanced with a spirits poll
I have since I was very young
Towards a very distant goal

The wind has swept me side to side
To blow me off this stretch of rope
But I have kept a balanced stride
And set my mind on naught but hope.

The walk has worn me down to seed
And I grow weak the pay of toll
I weary of the balance need
And fear, I will not find my goal

My heart is full of agony
I cannot rest a moment’s peace
And though the night plays fantasy
It seems to me but soft caprice

I ask how long a symbols rope?
And how long is a soul to hope?

It seems some imagination was required here as you don't seem that weery to me. Nice write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

So tell us now what is the toll of your goal ...
what would sate your soul, make you whole?
While walking upon a tightrope wire ...
one could fall into the fire or be taken higher.

So what goal will would take you higher yet ...
me thinks you know you'll have no need of nets.

Sy, you do walk a tightrope each day without a net..
and do very well indeed I might add.
How you manage to write such wonderful words
each and every morn to leave for us to ponder
is beyond me...but, keep them coming.
~Morning hugs and tea, Nancy~

Hiya, how are you doing this morning?  Wishing you a great day.  Thank you for the lovely poem...sad, but a warm reminder of how we keep going....believing that each new day will bring us understanding and peace to even all those unanswered questions...leaving them go and just being happy to be alive.

Your poems are wonderful...thank you for writing and sharing

~ You ask too many questions, my dear ponderer of the Fates! Banish your heart's agony into the ethers. Enjoy your nightly fantasies, even if they be "but soft caprice". They sure beat the hades out of real live nightmares! lol

~ Terrific poem, T-Man!

A poignant read, Sey. Hope it's only fiction.
