I keep looking into closets,
And turning over leaves.
To endless disappointments...
My heart, my failure grieves.

Looking through the windows-
As the world goes passing by.
It is not good to be alone,
I often wonder, "Why?"

Are there really happy people,
In a world full of remorse?
I've heard the maudlin words they say-
But people lie, of course.

But when we face reality-
Why must we dwell alone?
The bottom line in love affairs,
Is "Make it on your own".

I used to dream of romance-
Of one who cared for me.
Anticipating all my needs,
Alas, I finally see...

That I have been too selfish-
Too long I've had my way.
And for those kind of choices,
We all must someday pay.

I made the bed I lie in-
I have no one else to blame,
But I'll keep looking into closets,
For true love, all the same.

Well done. Sad, but all too often this is how we feel. I hope you find what you are looking for -
