Yes,
I remember,
though I'm not sure
why after all those tears
you would ask,
about the little bed and breakfast by the sea
where so many years ago,
within what you later called
a time of seriously lapsed judgement,
you would hide with me,
and we would close the world around us;
soft armor
woven from night streams,
threads teased from the wisps of dreams
we shared,
and you would make it seem as if
you could be brave enough
to take our love
out into the harsh burning light of day,
and there,
as if exposed,
as if anyone else would really care,
admit to its existence.
Love,
you would one day say,
could be worn like any other costume
for effect,
affect or raw display.
You often brought a picnic basket;
I always brought champagne,
so there'd be bits for you
to nibble on and sip,
and me;
we would sit out on the balcony
to watch the moon rise,
slowly drawing us
out into its pathway on the sea.
We would play the simple druid's game
of stretching time,
so every second would become a minute,
every hour was a day,
as long as we'd stay within the bubble
of the spell,
we were mostly
free of time's corrosive tedium;
the ocean was a block away,
just enough to soften its crashing pulse
into soothing waves,
the sound track
of the long evening's quiet slow delights.

Oh my..not sure why..
maybe memories triggered,
but this reduced me to tears.
It is very very romantic and beautiful..
May I ask for more, please?

Smiling...
my mind played
with armor,
changing it slightly,
easily, to
amore...

I enjoyed the entire read, Icebox.  Thank you.

I know this pathway, but the stretching of time...I'd like to know how to do that.  The sharing of a beautiful memory, brings it back to clarity.  Enjoyed!
