She stood there with flowers in hand
Yes, here they go once again
The cycle just repeats itself on and on
Like music to a sad but familiar song

Cries could be heard, I'm just not sure from where
The rain pouring down now leaves her soul bare
Wearing her heart on her sleeve, She's given her all
Still though her soul continues to fall

Through her own tears, she sees the pain on her lovers face
Wishing she could go back to a simpler time and place
There she stands at the door with beautiful flowers indeed
Doesn't she see though, flowers aren't what she needs
It's like that country song, I can buy my own roses, you know that old tune
She wonders in her heart is there space to try again, really is there room?

Outside the thunder rolls on, thumping against the window pain
Maybe everyone is right, and things will never again be the same
She looks across the room, those same flowers still in the vase
Vibrant and alive, they seem to come alive for a moment or two
As the petals lay around on the table, holding the possiblity of truth

Beautiful flowers they are, what a nice gesture, but is that love?
She hardly thinks not, searching for the answer high above
A calmness now though engulfs her, once she's never felt before
Slowly she walks away, slowly but forever closing that door

"love is like a butterfly--
if you chase it,
it will surely fly away,instead
hold it close and watch it grow into
something beautiful"

flowers are nice, but don't replace genuine effort and caring.....and don't always call for forgiveness.....*hugs*

Flowers are very nice, but then you have to watch them die. Isn't love the same sometimes? Wonderful what you did with these thoughts.
