Pandoras Box Sigs Graphic

When one person loves another person
with their whole being
with every single fiber
of themselves

It is impossible to just turn
that love off as you
would turn off a
water faucet

If someone has never experienced a deep love
                                        such as this
how can they even begin to comprehend the intensity
of the love of someone who has
experienced this kind
                          of love

Or how can that person
who has never experienced this kind of love
really understand the
devastating hurt of someone
who has lost a love
such as this

Or the way the person feels inside
as if their heart is
ripped out and
shred into little pieces
broken

So just        how
if someone has never experienced this deep love
can they be able to give
sound advice to
one whose heart
has been
broken
into
little
pieces

How?

Thanks for your reply, Bernie.
As I was reading here tonight of some of the heartache
on these blue pages, I started thinking how I would feel
if I were to lose the love of my Gary. So, this little
poem came into being. I know that I wouldn't be
able to just get over it in just a little while...if ever.

I really hope I never have to find out how it would feel.
Hugs, my friend

Well i question the definition of love?
is it the same as being >in love< or is it one loves, and the other doesn't, it's my belief that if two both are >in love< with each other then it will last forever, how ever with one being honest and the other just saying what the honest one wants to hear i don't belive this is being >in love< so how many have been in love?  only theese can answer your question,

I believe that you have to experience things before you can give advice.  Ethel, you raised some good questions here, and I agree with your thoughts, but you knew I would, because we share similar experiences.  Wonderful write, much to think on, and I always enjoy that!!  ~S~

Ethel:

see - they can never fully comprhend, they can only surmise what it must be like.
I adore this write because it is honest
and heartfelt and speaks of so much insight.  No, once that love has gone, it is the most reeling feeling in this world.
Funny how you reeel when you meet and you reel when you depart.

It is impossible to just turn
that love off as you
would turn off a
water faucet

YES IT IS
Very well spoken

Even before I read the poem, I pondered the title.  It brought to mind the time when I was questioning the thought of a divorce from my first husband.  I spoke for a long while on the subject with my mother.  She gave some sound advice.  Only I could decide what was best, for I had experienced situations she had never encountered.  From that time I realized that no one, unless they can walk in another person's shoes, should give advice, or pass judgment, until they have experienced the same thing, or something very close to it.

Perhaps that is what the prosecutor and the defense counsel see on my face when I still in voir dire, and why I am never selected to sit upon a jury.

You did very well here, Ethel.  Possibly even better than you will ever know.

The scary part is that I do understand.... and it hurts.... these past few days are going to haunt me for the rest of my life, I think. *wry smile* I'm slowly finding peace, though.... I'll get through it, even if I won't get over it. You are very wise.

That kind of pain hurts like hades--one feels it in every cell of their body. I still carry the pain of that lost love, but it is lessening with the passing of time. No one ever fully comprehent the road travelled by another unless they have walked in their moccasins! We can have compassion, but never total understanding unless we have been there ourselves!

~ and may neither you nor Gary ever experience such a loss...

Ethel, without eperiencing true love, one cannot give advice. I have experienced real true love, and my heart has truely been broken. Oh, how it hurts. Sometimes, I think it will never mend.

Ed, thank you so much.
.
Glenn you're so right. The hurt comes about
when only one of them is truly in love, I think.
.
Sunny, yes, I knew that you would know what
I meant, my friend.
.
Nan, yes, I believe so too.
.
Sue, you're right, too I  know that you
know, sweet lady.
.
Karilea, you always understand what I'm trying to say.
.
Krawdad, you're right.
.
Martie, you are so understanding.
.
Kielo, thank you. I'm very sorry that
you are going through such pain.
.
Dixie, I'm glad that you like it well enough to
save it into your library. But, I'm sorry that
you're going through such pain. I can feel it in your poetry.
.
Bill, thank you. I'm glad that you like it that much.
.
suthern, that is so true.
.
Linda, I know that you understand. My late husband
hurt me very much by those things he did, and Gary
was hurt by his ex-wife. I think that we're learning
from our bad experiences. I truly hope so.
.
.
I really appreciate all of you for reading and replying
to my poem with such compassionate and caring replies.
You are all very special to me, you know, and I
appreciate each one of you.
Heart hugs to each of you

I'm not sure if I will ever find the love that you speak of, but I know the agony and hurt that would come from this.I watched in amazement as my mother and I took care of my stepfather till he died and they had such a bond that until that moment I didn't believe exsisted.Very well done here.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Ethel, it hurts me so much to see so many never have the confidence to love, or have unrequited love, dearest friend, I would say so far I have not experienced real love, I had my Joanna who shortly loved me then turned against me, but I do understand how lovers can be either happy or heartbroken! (sad sigh) I dream so much to have a girl who I can love who will also love me, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Absolutely...I have always thought the more you love someone the longer or the harder it is to get over the loss...explains why it is so easy for some to get divorced now days...perhaps they never had that love...if one did and the other didn't I feel for the one that truly loved...James
