I smell rain still, growing my garden
need not his love to open my eyes to this beauty
it was already mine, appreciated, adored
in the same way I came to love and feel

Was that entwined spring of summer afternoon
not enough, to hold in mind, forever in awe?

Asking questions to an open page, and closed mind
I can penetrate page, yet not memory you hold
fearing failure of my coached denial
that I no longer love you and every imperfection

How can these eyes know love again
when today is deterrent perfection, my devil

Facing you, grasps my wrists with such heat
asking am I still human, as I feel without skin
having come to know no kind of word lies in stone
perfect truth, perfect lie

all have potential to crumble me whole.

My ex couldn't smell rain...he is no longer with me. If you can't smell the rain, then you can't possible know who I am...
