There is a cabin,
Placed high so near heaven,
Just above the trees
A place to give the soul ease,
A high resting place
Where you see but nature’s face
And the city thoughts erase.

There is a cool spring
That wild flowers hold in ring
Before it trickles
Laughing as it rock tickles
Forming a small stream
Beside which bight colors beam
So to city thoughts erase.

The path leaves the trees
The cabin sight surely does please
And I sit once more
On the bench beside the door
Watching eagles fly
Across crystal clear blue sky
The pathway is steep
To this hidden mountain keep
That the mind and soul adore.

The eagle flies on
Over the mountain and beyond,
In his drifting way
What took me most of the day
Up a path of rocks
For him there’s nothing that blocks
He has my vision
A full sky to wander in
There is no reason to stay.

The setting sun view
On a bench enough for two,
But when setting’s done
I’m aware there is but one
And then go inside
In case there are tears to hide,
I give candle flame
And a week and day remain
While the city thoughts erase.

Good morning, Professor! I do believe you may have to drop the "Gloom" from your name after writing such an illuminating and glorious poem! I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of your multi-faceted talent!

Thank you, Earth Angel,
Pleased you enjoyed, you are kind in your praise,
But I think the Gloom is too engrained in me
To be purged

Gloom..I know such a place as this as well.
You have penned it beautifully...
May I sit with you on that bench awhile...quietly?

Thank you, Enchantress,
Certainly, sit, watch, listen to the murmurs of the wind
Feel the warmth of the sun fade as the day does end
Then maybe inside to hear the fire crackling report
As we sit in the flickering twilight sipping port.

Such a sweet, sad write. Beautiful in that this is shared by us all at one time or another. It's just part of being human I think. Thank you for sharing, and showing me the common thread we all have, not just some.
So heartfelt. This would melt the coldest of hearts. I choked back tears. Wow.
