...to the Rescue

It's that time of year
that time I fear
when the dark
brings out the bold

and my eyes will smart
from the tears that part
when I am frightened
by what eyes behold

Once again I am scrambling
and  words spoke in rambling
as I head out the door
to my car

and go searching for someone
to help rid of this one
though driving
I couldn't go far.

He came with his cape
was my only escape
from the angst that
was holding me scared

With a towel and a box
one I wished had some locks
he wrestled it
with little care

Once a year, it is mine
when bats plant their find
to harbor a
scream out of me.

Then I dance to their wake
running scared as I make
a mad rush
to be saved by he.

M
this happens to me once a year...tonight was the night..and I will be sleeping with a blanket  covering my head tonight...that's for sure!!!

Oh Maureen, I'm sorry, but when I read Martie's reply, I have to say - at least you can SEE the bat!!!

I know all that..but wouldnt you rather the bat be outdoors than find one in your kitchen???
and anyway this one was near death..I don't have many bugs in here for it to eat...

Yes  bats are good to have...I just hate when one a year gets lost and comes down to this floor and can't find his way out.

I just loved Susan's reply!--and your poem!

To be honest, I'd be freaking out as well! --Not that I'd wish them any harm, but mi casa es mi casa!

Susan you are too cute...my husband never believes me when I would tell him  there is a bat in here..in fact the last one ( last year this time) I had to scream at him because he was going to leave me here with it
because  he had better things to do down at the bar. So when that bat heard my high pitched voice it came flying out probably thinking I was its mate...honest  truth

But this batman, is my friend whom I have been helping, way too young for me ( I am old enough to be his mother)but he did come to the rescue...

Thank you  and Linda, I feel the same. They will only die if caught on these lower floors..there is no way out and no bugs to eat...so if caught in time, they are released outdoors...just not by me !!

well not normally...but this one was just about dead, in fact the friend thought maybe someone was playing a joke on me because it looked like a rubber toy..but I have  seen them enough to know that it was "no toy".

I blame it on my neighbors whose attic is infested and every time they chase them out of their house I seem to get one who has lost his way.

I have a childhood nightmare memory  and bats are probably the only animals I fear, although I am not too fond of worms either, but that is because my brothers use to put them down my back

Thanks LR for the visit

LMAO at the responses and replies

God, I do know about bats Maureen
we used to go fishing
(oh geez there is a worm story too
anyhow)
the bats would come out on the lake at night
like thousands of them - swooping and diving  . . . after a while they seemed
ok to have around until one got caught in my sister-in-laws hair!!
OMG it was funny . .  she was freaking out!
Ok it wouldnt be funny if it was me,
but I have a sick sense of humor.
I needed this smile
thank you
