White carnations

Full bodied progeny
of white ruffle
petite of bud and bloom
fragrance swelling
before the green unfolds
and fills a little room
as aphrodisiac

settling moods

a week has come
and gone
plus one day more
and still they stand white
with palest yellow middles

even the baby’s breath
holds on another day
uplifted by ruffled abundance

pleasing eyes

filling senses

they will soon pass
their prime
sooner now than the eight
days of passage

but their fragrance only
burgeons by the hour
to give one last
exhale of
pleasure

they have given much
by way of
gift

I think I shall let them
go full blast
until they stand
no more.

Ah, carnations...one of the most hardy, frilly blooms. Love this, and carnations. hugs, Chris

I like that, "let them go full blast."  Sounds really nice.  Pretty powerful.  Nice work ;].

Well, I'm more of a rose lover, but these
are some lovely carnations for sure.   I enjoyed this.

My Mom's favourite flower is the carnation.  And this is one of the best odes that I've ever read...you have such a powerful, vivid style.

Soleil

I hope you've been giving them fresh water daily.  You know this florist loves your poem.
