In Memory Of Warren "Newey" Wallace Who Passed Away July 23, 1994. This Poem Means It's Close To The Day He Died.

Near The Dawn

I felt the familiarity of sadness found years ago
As I closed my eyes just to wake in new light
Sunrise left an irresistible cry in your name
Knowing, I'm near the dawn when you let go of life...

Rarely a breeze that I don't breathe the words I miss you
Just something to embrace you sent with the winds
A reminder that lifeless can even touch the living
When almost near the dawn I've been drowning in...

Dawn doesn't come easy when I relive our memories
If only I could find you somewhere other then gone
I've yet to close my eyes and roam the aisles of peace
When I've been waiting for you still nine years strong...

I hope to hear your voice with the forgiving sun
So that my fall to my knees be a much kinder one
I'm so near the dawn when true heartache was found
Here knowing we never made it to one more sundown...

Your leaving can never take a true family's love
So, I shine here for everything my Daddy was
But, I'm so near the dawn I can hear good-bye ring
So near the dawn the day my Dad got his wings...

Take my endless prayers and hold them to your heart
And, let's hold our yesterdays while we sleep apart
For, I will always have these reminding skies
And, another dawn to take on at sunrise...
I Love you, Dad.

Such lovely, descriptive words ..
this write just blew me away.

This brought a smile and a tear to my eyes!
Our parents will remain, forever and always a part of who we are, and that's the best part.

Thank you for sharing the love Saunni~
