No Closing Arguments

I stood before you, cloaked
in burial shroud

You
sat in self-righteous
gown of judgement

Never pled my case as
you didn’t see me
a credible witness, and

With you as judge and jury,
conviction was inevitable

So, with no
remedies,
negotiations,
or plea bargains
available

I awaited sentencing

With thunderous
crack of gavel
and final departure
from bench’s thone,

I realized no closing
arguments were
necessary.

Sentence served.

Dang, but the falling of the gavel was loud...

Well done, Gal!

Oh my, but that sentence sounded harsh!
Will you bother with an appeal?

Powerful words...they echo within.
Great job!
