In the kitchen the cookbook is closed
Creating by taste, by feel and by mood
Likewise, concoctions poetic composed
The mind into cosmos, the senses conclude

If not to my taste, then empty me why?
For empty is all and nothing is more
Rule out the forfeit and rule out the lie
The mind creates wonder not yet written for

In rattle or riddle or subtle subdue
Creating in simmer, in simmer
For what must come forth most likely will do
The soup warm to nourish not primer

In the kitchen the cookbook is closed
By art is the subject, the wide-eyed expanse
The pen and the pallet twin born predisposed
The soup that is made feeds the broad circumstance

And your "soup" is always delectable and food for the soul!

Nice poem. Don't be discourage when you don't get a lot of replies. That should encourage you to just try harder! This poem is making me hungry.

Absolutely love the rhythm of this and the language you've used to weave your concoctions. Well done! But not so well done that it's become tough and dry...it's just right!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Nourishment for my soul, TD.  This is wonderful. I think I shall go back for another bowl!
