a smudged out moon
glows in hazy opalescence
where it should hang
brightly glowing
in an indigo sky
now turned a blackened gray
by vaprorized moisture
hanging wet blanket heavy
from the horizon

i look for a silver gash
to break the somber night
of a promise of inheld fury
in clouds invisible in the dark
and listen for the growl of distant
rumblings to announce fury breaking
through the distilled quiet
but nothing flashes
but a simple twinkle
from an insect lighting
its way as it gambles
through the pregnant night

i wait for release of tears
from a depressed atmosphere
to break in relief upon my roof
i wait until
night breaks into a gray morning sky
shrouding the world
in a promise given
but not yet kept
and the storm watch
is not lifted with the new day
as a bird song attacks the silent air

i wait
and watch

thanks all.  i really do appreciate your positive comments.  it's been a while since i had taken time to post anything and it felt good to get something out again... it felt even better to read your kind words.

oh... that waiting storm broke late yesterday in a waterfall downpour which left a river flowing down the sidewalk.  it was quite awesome.
