Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-07-06 09:12 PM

Dissecting lives

going back to memories

reading between lines

analyzing emotions, sighs,
seeing beyond the silhouettes of
shadowed looks, over-killed highs,
those downs, ups,
them there somewheres, in-between….

lay the answers.

Somewhere.

Dana’s chocolate essence
had been
more of a go-between for life’s pages

as he had tried to reach stages
or plateaus, not sure which was which
but oh, he tried….

And she, so steadfast and engrossed
in research of yesterday, when all Konrad
wanted to do
was let go
but no…Jake, Dillon, Iambe…Travis…
others
wafted through his bloodstream

when would he grow up
and know that he could not outrun
the bloods streaming through him….

Leoncio reached out to him
with claws, a force to be dealt with, a life
to discover.

He knew Dana knew to leave a hint
but not to hit him over the head
with facts.

What will be, will be, love,
were her parting words,
before she had gone to this dig.

What will be

might be, with this slip of paper
feeling peppery between fingertips

sliced remnants of memories coming to him

as if a claw had reached through
and slivered things
into a peace….

that he thought he had been reaching for.

For a moment, he thought of Jake,
and then
Dillon

and then

Iambe….

Did they know?  Should he push on
into the Yucatan?
Or slide back home
into a questionable silence?

He stepped out of the area
that had inhabited his Dana…
into the light
and looked up, with a silent plea

to whatever god was looking down

to answer the questions
of a heart
in tear.

Liked that verse alot!!

These tales you're all telling are so true to life, but I figure that is how they are meant to read.  I hope the story never ends.

Loved this chapter Karilea~

oooooh ... so much to read between your lines...you leave so many paths not yet traveled..while always looking back to the past...leaving us wondering whats in the rear view mirror...and waiting with baited breath as to when it will be ahead in the road.
So glad the porch puppy nagged this second one out of you..errrrr I mean inspired you.
Groovy write ... keep em coming.

Well ... OK ... but you have to wash it first.

(bumper sticker humor) ;)
