Listening to every heart

Trails in the Yucatan
can be misleading

when a wrong turn, or a delayed reaction
takes one second longer

then life becomes a trial.

He had reached Dana’s dig
but there was no current unearthing
of her tracks
which now stretched beyond
the hole in the ground
where old dust and bits of bone
had settled back in
to watch the
future.

Not sure if he had arrived early
or late,
nevertheless
his chocolate-haired Dana
was naught but yesterday’s shadow
blending into the forest’s green.

He asked about, then was
taken to
the lone room she had inhabited.

Pale scents lingered, warmed by
the afternoon sunlight on a left-behind
pillow.

A solitary pad of paper on the sole desk, left behind
for whatever reason,
he wondered if there would be
a sense of imprint
from her hand.

A foolish thought.

But when he moved just so, a shadowy
hollow caught his eye.
Shivers plunged down his spine.

A stubby pencil, extracted from his pocket,
slowly, easily, the flat side of the graphite
drew out the imprint

Leoncio

a Spanish name for
saints and martyrs.

Only this
Leoncio had a last name.

And it matched Konrad’s.

wow
this one gave me chills
remembering the feel of past souls
as they passed over me
as I climbed Mount Masada, Israel

Ok, you know I never rush you with these (like some folks do who aren't here today to defend themselves) but Kari you better know where you're going with this and get there quickly...cause I got all day!!!
And I'm going to sit here and dog ya!

Karilea...You put it all there...the mystery, the edge...the pull to find out, little hints that want for more...very good, my friend!!

Konrad? hmmm... the name is vaguely familiar....lets see .... OH yes... I know him..hes that groovy guy running off looking for some hottie named Dana... LOL

Yes..the moth wants more...more mystery..more chemistry...more exotic scenery...more chocolate with my raspberry
Very cool to see this series reprised Kari.

Well ... OK ... but you have to wash it first.
