Rusty Old Pickup Truck (In Vegas)

I met her at a bus stop in Las Vegas.
That's where I picked her up
in my rusty old pickup truck.
She needed a ride and I wanted to give one.
Just got into town from a long drive in
the middle of the night trying to make it
to Vegas before the morning light.
Her name was Aloe Vera and mine was Slim Jim.
I thought we would look good together
so I told her to grab her bag and get on in.
I was in town for what I call a gambling
holiday but I told Vera later in the evening
we'd have plenty of time to play.
We checked into a local dive 'cause my pickup
felt more comfortable beside other old rides.
We left her in the good company of some fifty
five Chevy's and even a thirty four Ford, some
assorted Harley's and an old rusty Honda Accord.
I told Vera to go ahead and soak a warm bath
and then to settle in because the gambling
tables were already calling out to Slim Jim.
Blackjack was my favorite but the slots
were know to get me hot so I focused on
the gambling but it was all for naught.
An eight hour drive and I was broke in two.
Time to go and tell Vera the gambling holiday,
and any future plans appeared to be through.
Vera didn't take kindly to the words that I said.
Never the less she said, "Come on big boy to bed."
On the game tables I lost everything I had.
But Vera treated me so good that I couldn't be sad.
Early the next morning everyone was smiling,
even my rusty old pickup truck was standing tough.
An incredible night with Vera convinced me
that I was due for a heapin' of good luck.
About then Vera said to me, "Slim Jim we had
ourselves a beautiful night and today is going
to be our lucky day, for in the secret pocket
of my bag I have a few silver dollars tucked away."
"That's good Vera, for I have one tucked away too,
so let's get over there to that casino and see
what we can do".
I stepped up to the MegaBucks to try my good luck.
Three silver dollars and only one pull and then
back to the rusty old pickup truck.
If we won me and Vera would be millionaires,
if we lost, well in Vegas no one really cares.
Slowly I dropped the silver dollars in.
Like thousands before me I prayed for a win.
I closed my eyes as I pulled on the machines arm.
I heard it spinning, I heard it stop, and then
I heard a loud alarm.
Bells were ringing, lights flashed for Vera and me.
Yep, me and Vera won those mega bucks and we rode
off into the sunset in my rusty old pickup truck.
Next week Vera and me are flying to Monte Carlo
to try out our run of good luck.
Yep, me and Vera and my rusty old pickup truck.

Some story you have here.
You know it must be in the blood. My son loves old pick up trucks and motorcycles and snowmobiles. His first truck was mostly rust with skull bones painted on the side.
Good one.

James, I really liked this story-poem. It was good...

And, I liked the little note at the bottom where you said that you really didn't win a million.  LOL

Fun story you've woven...dreams are pipes of fun...sorry you had to put in the disclaimer. :O}

I'm going to pretend it was just cuz you didn't want us all lookin' you up for a share. hehehehe

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
