where the wild flowers grow

Small handprints
multiply on my windows.
Something once held is dusted and cloudy.
A disposition, hanging by a thread.

Overhead, streetlights dimly dance,
and have yet to change their bulbs.
The wind seperates itself and jumps
from river to land, and back again.

Folded,
My shaded eyes open.
Still oblivious to color, and time.
A shadow moves to contour to
the motion in which I seep,
into the scenery.
Melting my devotion which clears,
and clings to my tears.

Did I dream?

My own hands seem to tell me,
I must remember..
In my fear I once saw
my ghostly handprints leaving me...

What a lovely memory you brought back to me.  One Christmas, in Illinois, we had a front door window that liked to frost up on the inside of the house.  On Christmas eve, my husband put on a large glove that he had previously warmed up, and left a huge handprint on the window, low, about a kid's eye-level?

That was the FIRST thing the children saw when they woke up early, Christmas morning.

I like this, and enjoy your writing Very Much!

A handprint leaves many memories. A handprint made of paper of a child when just a babe or a handprint made of clay.
So many lines in this one that are thought provoking.

captivating and memorable...with a spookiness at the end.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Nicely dreamed poem . . .
or "poeticised" dream ???

Funny how the brain flushes away the dreams.
Meant to be, I suppose.

But write about every dream you can, I say.
