A Turning Point
By BluesSerenade & Larry Chadwick

What do you want to write about?" she asked.
And he said "whatever makes you smile,"
and she said to "go ahead and write another line,"
and he said "I think innocence is overrated."

While pondering that simple fact, she said
innocence is the foundation of our hopes and dreams
an accumulative investment over time
and the small pleasures taking place in our lives.

Unlike fairy tales
it remains a part of our story
sprinkling glitter that spans the heart
like handmade gifts we give unto others.

What do YOU want to write about she asked
and he said, whatever makes you laugh
and she said, that's my line
and he said,  beauty is overrated

She said, beauty is thick skinned and misunderstood,
serving to preserve what lies beneath
clouded by the shadows of doubt
a wistful rustling, falling like autumn leaves.

He said “he'd be willing to reconsider“
and she asked herself what it was they were writing about
nevertheless, they were drawn to each others innocence and beauty
and she wondered if it was as good for him as it was for her.

And he said “I love your beauty but personally I prefer your innocence,”
and she whispered under her breath, yes!

Well it's just my "educated" guess--but?

I suspect Larry wrote this line:

"I think innocence is overrated"

Well, just because he would.

This does have a fragility to it, and it does speak of beauty and innocence. I applaud the both of you, and yes, Blues, glad you stuck around, lady! and Lar? you rogue, you!

to y'both!

Well shoot and damn Larry Dear~
I am not as innocent as I look,
just a tad too sensitive for my own good.

Thanks for writing with me.....

me thinks we will all be whispering Yes
beautiful write of sincere friendship...
you did the two step well together.

All I can feel is this distance between you and me.
I can say I love you but I can't make you believe me
because touching is believing.

Martie,
As is my Bluesie partner. And thank you.

Ratleader,
Cool. And on top of all those nice things it was fun.

Karen,
You're on to me! And yes I did. But you know what all the wisdom came from the Bluesie one.

Wind,
Really? Cool! And thanks.

Bluesie,
Hey sweet one. I must say you have a creative and wise muse. And you are an excellent duet partner. Thank you, thank you.

JM,
Awww. I like that. Friendship is such a rich gift. No wonder I feel so wealthy. Seems it is partly your fault! And thank you.

littlewing,
Am I missing it completely. I thought she was innocent. Sheesh. And thank you.

Edder,
Cool! Because it was fun... And thanks.

Bluesy,
So do we need some PR spin or what? LOL You're the best.

Ethel,
Thanks for the hugs and the kind words.

Susan,
Yup Bluesy is the wise one. I can't write like that. But you already knew that.

Sorry guys but blew up my internet connection at home.

Karilea,
Thank you. Maybe. But all the wisdom in this poem is hers.

Linda,
Well that was nice. And thanks.

Barry,
You are the man. Thanks big guy.

Duncan,
Kind words from a kind guy. Thanks.
