Why is it that you pen of me?
For I am but a simple tree,
I know not of mystic quest,
No unseen forces haunt my breast,
Although I reach to heavens high,
Never shall I touch on sky,
Nor dance a dance with Terpsichore;
My roots are trenched in earthen floor,
Yea, I am but a simple tree,
A simple tree, e’er will I be,
Alone I stand with outstretched limb,
Whorling leaves and fragile stem,
Awaiting thrust of woodman’s axe,
Of beetle’s bite, north wind’s attacks,
With weakened boughs, alone I wait,
I wait alone for life’s abate,
For nature’s forces, my cruel fate,
My final fall, my terminate,
Alone I reach unto the sky,
Alone I fail, alone shall die,
For I am but a simple tree,
Why is it that you write of me?

I think your tree's soul is delighted for your tribute ... this is very beautiful. Somehow sad, but it is life's circle and the tree knows.

You ponder what the trees think...
and I look at my animals and wonder
if they're wondering about the humans...

LOL...

Always enjoy reading you, Sir...

I have always admired the majestic tree. Her strength, her regal stance, her beauty in silhouette. I do digital photography and have used her for many backgrounds.
Lovely write.
