* * * *

There are so many lonely people
Who live out their lives alone
They have such little human contact
Virtual prisoners in their own home

They have no friends or family
But surely somebody must care
We take so much for granted
But life for some can be unfair

I've decided to help these people
By simple spending an hour or two
To give a little of my time
Is the least that I can do

A volunteer in my community
Is to be my next quest
For I feel I'll be rewarded
If I can give my very best

* * * *

"The most emotionally healthy people
in our society are able to put
themselves into other people's shoes,
know how someone else is feeling
and care about that.
This capacity extends beyond
sexual and family intimacy.
It creates a circle of genuine feeling
that can extend, eventually,
to all of humankind."

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Sue:  Such an admirable thing to do.  It is also rewarding for everyone involved.  For a number of years now, I spend Thursday mornings with a shut-in lady and it has come to mean a lot to both of us.

Sue:

this is the most intelligent thing I have heard all year:

"The most emotionally healthy people
in our society are able to put
themselves into other people's shoes,
know how someone else is feeling
and care about that.

Good for you and yes yes yes
