the flash
of sun on silver armor
green  cloth on black horse
green standard flapping
in the wind

the smell
of sweaty stallion
of dusty field
of ladies perfume
of food

the sound
leather creaking
crowd roaring
horse snorting
knight yelling
hooves thundering

the impact!
a lance, shattered
splits into pieces
raining down
on the crowd

the charger
riderless
trots to where
his master
lies still on the ground

the victor
triumphant
salutes the
seething masses
chanting his name

the king
awards
the champion
his prize:
a golden
medallion

Inspired by my visit to the Renaissance Festival. Hope you enjoy!
