Listening to every heart

0 posted 2003-04-24 10:55 PM

Can you believe this turquoise color?
Or in swift, soft sound of miracles?
I am but a heartbeat Mom
I’m sure the Robin is more secure…

I sit here in frantic fright
Every time that she takes flight
Little mother, will you come back?
Or shall I have a heart attack?

Being a mother is one thing,
But for birds, well, I can’t sing!
Nor can I find worms so deep
That will feed their bellys, help them sleep!

It brings back to me the long lost nest
And when my family tried our best
Of raising chicks on love and hope,
We wondered then, how did they cope…

Mother Robin, please come back,
For I am not the one whose tact
Will equip these baby birds to be,
Hurry home that your babes should see…

The world of wing as only you know…
And I’ll provide their sun in glow…

Karilea - what breathtaking verse! The mother will be back, and she will sit through rain and wind protecting her little turquoise gems. So precious this is. Thanks for the peek into the nursery before I "fly" off to bed. hugs, Chris

I'm going to sit here all night until I overcome the desire to comment that this poem is for the birds!

Well did I love this!  I am a "bird person" and always wanted to see those eggs for one thing, and secondly to compare the nest to life, well just pretty darn clever!  However, if she doesn't come back please get a ladder and look after those sweet babies okay?  And...I see you found a use for that wonderful photo you took that morning and wowzers does it suit this poem.  I LOVED this one, yes I did!

Beautiful verse, my friend.  What a surrogate mama you are...watchful protector of her nest.

How I love this! Pure magic the words showing your feelings, the pictures ... a deep pleasure for me ... (hmmmm .... I actually dare to "dialogue" with the birds near our home ...especially blackbirds .... I've learned their melodies and even though my daughter thinks I am exaggerated .... I just enjoy it so much and the birds too ... it seems to me!)
Love, waiting for more ...

Karilea...my doves get off their eggs to feed, but not for long...and usually they take turns, so one is always on the nest.

Loved the verse of this...and the wonder of the way life is.  Thanks!

Looks like almost all the good words on this have been used up, but I think majestic, simple and "nature at its best" might still be available.  You've got all pip hanging on the future of these four.  Oh yes, always wonderful to read you.  KJ
