Columbine
By: Noah Eaton
4/20/01

Columbine
Lacen spurs strumming in the daylight
Pontificating the spirit of peace in the nighttime
Grace of love divine

Travesty
Patters pools of azure will
Lavender commingle of greed
Frosting upon innocent pastel sepals

Injustice
Bleeding into the calyx of unified love
Breaking soft hearts in self-affliction
How despair can spread so rough

Sorrow
Ice on the shoulders of the winter
Wounded hearts slowly healing in many tomorrows
Leaves remaining of faint blister

Rise
To the light of God, for the spring has come again
After the rain subsides
Let our blessings outnumber the splinters, may doth wounds mend

Love
This breath of fresh air, life’s immortal wimple
To shine into your colorful heart, budding only more courageous buds
We the butterfly singing thee psalms of faith, whispers of the faithful

Columbine
How your blue eyes sting with purple tears
Stretch your roots out now, kiss the lapis luzuli skies
Flowers may bleed, but no need to fear…
There will be seasons between seasons…
There will be seasons between seasons…
There will be seasons between seasons…

And that's the most wonderful thing about creating. It will always be a mystery.

***Shakira***

How well I remember Noah...
How do we stop this insanity?
What is bothering our young people so?
Too many questions...another sad day.

This will happen as the unity of families breaks down...a good reason to have a close and loving family...unfortunately not always possible and oftentimes out of the control of the children...James

Very inspiring piece, We should never forget the wrongs in the world. We need to come together in our families keep the children safe. Guns never help being so prominant in society. It is sad to think that many of us think this is the answer.

Hi Noah ... how well I remember this tragic day; like it was yesterday.

"Wounded hearts slowly healing in many tomorrows"

"Rise
To the light of God, for the spring has come again
After the rain subsides
Let our blessings outnumber the splinters, may doth wounds mend"

Such beautiful and touching words. The whole piece brought tears for the sorrow and smiles for the healing. When this shooting took place, I went out and bought columbine plants for my garden, as a reminder always of those whose lives were taken and those who mercifully were spared.

God bless you for writing this Noah.

Hugs and luvs, Marti

I am in Littleton twice weekly, for my  daughter's horseback riding lessons. It's impossible to pass the high school without remembering this tragedy. Yet forward-moving healing thoughts must prevail, and we must always focus on the many positive events that take place daily in this beautiful community.
You have written a tender piece of remembrance, Noah.

When I saw your title, I knew instinctively what I would see...
The spring is an echo...we can never forget.
Excellent Noah. TD
