my voice froze,
and iced words
hung so very still,
like grandmother's tatting
gone awry
and left to die
in a window
painted black;
I watched threads break
and words drift
to some (final) resting place,
piling beneath the ghost-glow
of a full winter's moon

this shiver dance
up and down my spine
was (is) invisible
to an arrogance
I've yet to define,
and I could never
have worn enough clothes
to edge
the freeze of doubt
or thaw
the chill of memory
as tears and
(weeping) willow-sighs
licked the cold stone

and I--
I simply
keep standing,
(shiver dancing)
frozen and still
waiting for the thaw

I think this utterly beautiful in form and imagery...but I can't help taking it personally, for it seems, at times I have such mutiple personalities, though I remain quite integrated, ~yet, still I ask, will the real Pat please stand up~, and triggers which can freeze me happen...though rarely, now.

I found truthfulness and being honest two entirely different things and not until I did experience and acknowledge arrogance and sense of inadequacy and
pray rigorously for insight did I ever begin the thaw..and get down to the right size. So easy to freeze again if I don't keep my form of spiritually and prayer and insight at the top of what to do first, today.

All things are possible but the want to must be there...and the knowing of the how-tos...Pain a wonderful motivator....

Thank you for this....clearly had an impact on me....the wonder of where I've been and the marvelous wonder of where I am going....

Hugs to you, Pat

I've yet to define,

It is beautiful what you've written here Sandpiper...
however sad those parting words that cause one to shiver
and dance in their recollection.

Somehow, the chill in your poem brings me warmth.

(big hugggssssssss) Now forgive the arrogance you feel deep inside of you and now work to make amends and before you know it, the robin comes swiveling in! (sigh) This is marvelous, sweet fridnd, your words are like a breath of fresh sunshine across an arctic plain, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Very pretty.  I can actually feel the cold chills.

It's cold.  My love is nearly frozen.
Not like some shy mountain glistening.
But rather like the man on the street who is
ready to sell his coat for a needle.
I'm the needle.
