There are those places, spaces better left alone
Something calls my spirit to the stairs
Amid the boxes, dusty and webbed
Private things…remembrances only his

The feminine in me steers the passage
Up, cautiously, in fear of unknown origin
As if to call my name, the coffer gleams
Private things…remembrances only his

Trembling hands lift the ragged cover
Just as each trembling breath escapes my lungs
And written there, her heart spilled on these pages
Private things…remembrances only his

This ego of mine, bruised, cries out in green smoke
Up, angrily, I stand shaking as the fire burns inside
To read another love, in depth that blushed my body
Private things…remembrances only his

There are those places, spaces better left alone
Until, in tears, I saw my love through her eyes
Amid the boxes, dusty and webbed
Private things…remembrances only his

Softly, to fold the past into my being, he stood there
His eyes filled in the sight of his dreams and his nightmares
And I realized the truest prize my life had been gifted
Private things…remembrances only his

As we saw each other, a smile found the reasons to be right
Amid the boxes dusty and webbed, I held him tight
And written there, a friendship deeper than any wound
Private things…remembrances only ours

This is a wonderful write - We all have our personal and private boxes in our attics... and you've given us just a glimpse of yours - Very nice TD..

Diamond:

you have done a beautiful job of describing that place we all have - where we travel to in need . . . whether it be the heart - the mind, a photo album , a writing . . .

Beautiful memories
