Kansas Sighs

Not until the cottonwood
Carries green again

Not until the winds from south
Care to bare again

Not until the storms have rent
Totality’s aftermath

That Kansas sighs are heard full song
A low moan less its wrath

~*~

Come to greet this dawn again
Give tilt to this full day

Watch the heat come seek the sky
And bubble up what may

Come nightfall the storms appear
In gold and gray and blast

And one knows the hand of God
Shall never quit its task

~*~

Now comes the gentle fall of snow
In late day's spring sunlight

But ne'er is there the gloom of chill
Though the lawn is laden white

It bodes of warmer days to come
When wheat shall bend in gold

It brings forth thoughts of stars in sky
And campfires hear stories told

~*~

Not until the cottonwood
Carries green again

Not until the winds from south
Care to bare again

Not until the storms have rent
Totality’s aftermath

That Kansas sighs are heard full song
A low moan less its wrath

Watch the heat come seek the sky
And bubble up what may

What a beautiful sigh in your sky~
This reads like a summer day in golden glow.

Clicking my heels, there's no place like home.
(had a temporary lapse, and almost forgot my lines)
So pretty, really.

Karilea's Kansas makes me sigh...

So incredibly beautiful--but 'twas written by poetess beyond compare, so its beauty is not so incredible afterall!

Sunny hugs,

Well done! Well done!

You folks who haven't been to Kansas, read again....this is it exactly.

"Come to greet this dawn again
Give tilt to this full day

Watch the heat come seek the sky
And bubble up what may"

....and those lines my favorites of all... Reading them I can absolutely see it again.

Beautifully descriptive, Karilea. The flow and imagery within this piece are delightful and set the mood well.

'Tis a for sure!

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit
