Six in the mornin' and the weather was nice
The cooler was loaded with beer and some ice.
Tackle had been packed with a manly touch
a small bit of this, that and way too much.

A day to be savored alone at the shore
A picnic enticing, such treats to explore
Which blanket to bed us, which outfit to wear?
Can't wait to be near him, feel his hands through my hair

The coffee was perkin', the eggs were just right.
Hands were just shakin', the thought of the bite.
The dog was whinin' from a small bladder attack.
The toast was burnin', once brown and now black.

Aquiver to feel the strength of his arms
A futile attempt to don silk and soft charms
Excepted all cotton, unbuttoned and bold
So eager to get there, for this dream to unfold

A noise from the stairs that raised his fears
a light smell of fragrance on feminine ears.
The honey was flowin and not on burnt bread
with blood vessels showin all over his head

The plan was askew for she was awake
and now a new tact he had to take.
Breakfast for two, with coffee laced hot.
Plans for the day, the fishing seemed shot.

So excited he was to keep her company
As to pamper her so, nibbled toast and honey
He exclaimed in a tremble she should pack a nice lunch
And she smiled to herself, of such sweet things to munch

The fish were biting, he could see from the bank
but his heart was feeble as his courage sank.
The poles he packed in the trunk were itchin’
for some serious casts on a day of fishin’!

But then the smell of her scent did command
him to rethink of which prize he should land.
A fish could wait, there were more in the lake
and a picnic for two they both should partake.

They munched and giggled and oh so much more
alone in that clearing beside the shore.
The fish were bitin’, and just the right size
but there they sat, they had each caught the prize.

And when the sun set against the blue skies
two lovers were lost, a gleam in their eyes.
The fishing would wait till another day
as light footed loves danced the light away.

Have I ever got someone to show this to!
