A careless weaving tears the fiber
letting the draft blow through
awakened by the sheer exhaling
trembles from my breath
quiet heart beats
rest in patience
pieced by peace
a patchwork, worn
absorbing the textured ache
loose threads unraveling
with passive acceptance
tattered edges
smooth and warm
slipping stitches
that no longer come together
so little comfort
left between the folds
held together by the missing
of the quilt that we had sewn
as your friendship was a treasure
and I'll forever keep you safely
when I lie down in my memories
so precious and so few.

So lovely..so gently spoken..so sad.
Wonderful write Lori..much enjoyed.

This was hard to read,
I kept getting caught up
in the slipped stiches,
and it unraveled me,
just so.

Certainly, nothing careless
about this...

Smile,
What a warm feel to this write.
How well I know the verse, the music and the charm. Bravo!

so precious and so few..but treasured it seems... I would ask why not create anew.. weaving the old with what might be again..

enjoyed this blues... and it paints you in shades that match the clouds that crossed my eyes when reading it..

I hope that the tear in the comforter of your friendship, can be mended with careful stitches of compassion, using the finest threads of understanding...

Yes, Richy says it so well. For, that is what it takes. Compassion and empathy and validating ~feelings~ regardless of their source.

For all feelings are valid, period, true friends don't need an accounting, first. As my daughter taught me so many years ago.

This is beautiful, as are your feelings in this lovely poem.

Such talent.

Hugs, Pat

Well dang, thanks so much for reading my simple weaving...one of these days I'll get it right.  I apologize for going backwards again.

LOL... what you talking about Blues... I didn't see any backwards in this... just a lot of replies that hoped you could find a way to mend the tears if there were some...

hugs back...  and quit apologizing.. LOL

Yes, friends are so far and few between, and it sadens me to see a friendship end as soon as it began, but it takes two, and I'm far from perfect, never claimed to be.  It's either worth it or it isn't...sounds so plain and simple, alas, I should have known better.

Thank you for reading, and for lending me your shoulder in poetry.

Many more hugs~

(big hugggssssssss) It is so hard for me to sow my memories too, for my whole childhood is stained with the tears I've cried and I'd rather just look ahead and leave the tapestry to burn! (sad sigh) This is very heartfelt, sweet friend, I send healing hugs your way, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lori, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Bluesie,
Well, I'd love to quote my favorite part. But it seemed redundant to copy and paste the entire poem. How I love your writing...friend.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

'loose threads unraveling

The title reminded me of that old song, think Bread did it, 'Precious and Few'.  You have a way of capturing the feeling of loss that just cuts right through me sometimes.  Excellent write Lori!

Beautiful work!

I spent much of my life trimming loose edges, taking care of errant threads.  Some of them were mine; most were other people's.

It gets to be a habit.  *smile*

Thank you for sharing this.
