A eulogy of clouds
Are all that is left
Bearing testament to that which passed
And they too are in a scurry
To write their impressions on the eyes

You can see the storms build
Here, where it is open field of corn
Still just a fingered sprout,
They coalesce
Then boil
Blackening sun at bottom
With tops racing like Babels tower
To speak with heaven
Just before they flatten in spread
Of anvil
And sparks fly.

On gusts pulled up
Into the hungry maw,outriders,
Move against the surface.
Sometimes in spin that reminds us
Of larger tails
Dropping lives
At will

The epitaph of the plains
In springtime could read
“We built thunder and let it fall
on our own heads.”
but we do not write the legacy
of words to be remembered by,
it is the clouds
that pass judgement
pronounce sentence
and then carve their words
for us on memorials
of passing spring storms

It is so like me
to think of you
while I write this
and to get caught up
in the thunder
inside.

yep..under a severe thunderstorm warning right now and tornado watch until 7:30 tonight... just watched the radar show a pretty strong cell with reported hail pass over the area where the house is and they were reporting wind gusts up to 60 MPH.

I'm sure I'll have a mess... there were still limbs hanging from last years ice storms... but so far, no tornados sighted although they have some cloud rotations on radar. Got to love springtime... and God's sense of humor... Sure..you want rain? I'll give you rain, want a little lightning and thunder too just so you know I am around? Ah well..too bad..you got it anyway.. lol..
stay safe...

The rest
of the wet
floated north,
once God had his chuckle,
leaving us
with limbs and downed nests
to pick up,
noting
once again
that only
the strong
survive...

but in the mercy
of His hand,
the razing of the limbs
made for new light to beam upon
tulips long shaded...
and now they stretch
in His light...

just look
there's a miracle floating
somewhere...
